GURGAON: The state vigilance bureau has launched its official page on
Facebook. According to an official, the website will help citizens, who otherwise feel hestitant, to connect to them.
Citizens can lodge complaints and can also upload pictures and videos to record any untoward incident. The vigilance bureau has created a new e-mail id, svbggn@gmail.com, which can be used to register complaints.
The Facebook account lists out the details pertaining to the deparment and clearly mentions that the vilgilance department is a government one. In Gurgaon, the bureau is headed by Sheel Madhur.
The main task of the department is to keep a tab on government officials posted in Gurgaon, Rewari, Faridabad, Palwal, Mewat and Narnaul districts in southern Haryana. Inquiries and complaints are registered when pilferages are reported in government funds. This happens when there is a case of demand of bribe or disproportionate assets according to the known sources of income. There have been several instances of raids being carried out by the department in the recent past where officials have been caught red-handed accepting bribes for carrying out works under their jurisdiction. The department in larger public interest has asked the general public to bring to light more such incidents and they hope that this practice will act as a deterrent to all officials who are involved in corrupt practices by lodging complaints through e-mails, phones and Facebook account.
